Passion Week

Each springtime our culture enjoys the brightness of the resurrection season. Just as new plants are breaking ground and trees begin to bud, the colorful and flower print dresses of little girls and family gatherings are met with expectant excitement.

For Christians, the season is also a moment to remember sacrifice, and celebrate what it means to have life again. In fact at The Sanctuary, we refer to these sacred and "high holy days" of Christianity as "Passion Week.” We begin with “Palm Sunday,” remembering Jesus entering into Jerusalem for the last time. We also stop to recognize the somberness of “Good Friday” as He sacrificed His life for us in crucifixion. Then on “Resurrection Sunday” we celebrate Jesus coming back to life again.

As a part of our celebrations, we believe there is a real power in remembering! Even as Jesus asked his disciples at The Last Supper to remember the moment, we are encouraged each year as we read through the Scriptural accounts of the final days leading up to, not only Christ's death, but most importantly His Resurrection.
